School’s plea for pool funds

A SCHOOL is appealing for members of the public to donate £1 to help save its swimming pool.

Sandown primary school needs to raise £200,000 to repair the building that houses its pool.

If work is not started on the building, the pool, used by hundreds of primary school children will be forced to close in the next 18 months. To date, neither charitable organisations, businesses, council nor Government have been able to help.

Debbie Ramsay,of the school’s Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), said: “There are approximately 87,000 people in the town, if everybody was to give £1 we would be almost half way to our target. Times are hard, everything has gone up except wages, but by giving just £1 you could help a child continue to learn to swim and ultimately save a life.”
