The school was visited by Ofsted on January 10 and in a report published in February, was deemed to be continuing the work that saw it rated ‘good’ in June 2013.

The inspection report stated: “Among your staff you have fostered and embedded a spirit of togetherness and united determination to provide high-quality education for the pupils in your care. Governors, too, are immersed in the school’s ethos and share your vision of high ambition for each pupil.”

The inspector met with parents and reviewed responses made to the Ofsted online questionnaire.

Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school and proud that their children attend Crowhurst,” the inspector said. “A parent summed up their views by saying, ‘the school works hard to understand what makes each child tick and to find their way to shine, be it academically, musically, in performance, or in their friendships and responsibilities’.”

The inspector recognised the work the school has undertaken to improve since its last inspection. The report said: “Pupils’ academic achievement and personal growth are central to your school ethos and, because of this, pupils feel valued; they develop into mature, well-rounded individuals who are well prepared for their future lives. Pupils aspire highly and believe in their own potential.”

Mr Michael Stewart, chair of governors, said: “I would like to say how immensely proud I am of our school. As one parent noted, ‘the school is like a family where everyone belongs’, and I can only endorse this statement.

“The inspector confirmed what we already know, that Crowhurst CE Primary School is ‘characteristically a high performing school.’ I would like to congratulate the pupils, staff, parents and fellow governors on receiving such a positive inspection outcome.

Headteacher Andrew Jervis said: “The inspection findings reflect what we know about our school, how hard the staff work to ensure children develop and achieve as well as possible, how enthusiastic our children are about their learning and how supportive the parent body is to work in partnership with the school. We will continue to strive to make Crowhurst CE Primary School the best it can be, a great place to learn and a community to be part of.”
