Sara Lee Christmas Fair success

The annual Sara Lee Trust Christmas Fair has been hailed a great success, raising over £2,600 for the local charity.

The event took place last Saturday (November 19) and was held at St. John the Evangelist Church, St Leonards.

Sara Lee Trust Fundraising Manager, Maria Gonet says it was well supported. “We welcomed a fantastic number of visitors to our Christmas Fair,” she said. “Children had the chance to meet Father Christmas, have their faces painted and make festive decorations.

“Wonderful festive music was provided by the Rye Ukulele Experiment whose playlist included: ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’.”

Along with raffles and refreshments a variety of stalls, offered shoppers a range of unique purchasing opportunities, including hand-crafted gifts, scented candles, jewellery, and Italian scarves.

The charity’s grand Christmas raffle saw eleven lucky winners receive a range of top notch prizes including a luxury one-night stay in Rye, a 32” LED TV and a crystal jewellery set.

Maria added:“We are extremely grateful to everyone who came along and helped us raise a fantastic £2,646. A big thank you to the Rye Ukulele Experiment who put on a wonderful performance and to our amazing volunteers who helped make the day a great success.”

Money raised will help the Trust continue to offer counselling and therapies to those in Hastings and Rother living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.www.saraleetrust.org
