FATHER Christmas made his presence known, several times, in Alexandra Park on Sunday when 150 runners in fancy dress took part in a family fun run to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice.
Around 50 children and 100 adults took part in the 5km and 2.5km races, which have so far raised £,1000 and more money is still coming in.
As well as a host of dressed-up Santas, runners wore other festive costumes including a penguin, family of elves and even a human-sized Christmas present.
The winning prize for best fancy dress was awarded to Jenny Grist, whose elf outfit won her a bottle of bubbly.
Organiser Marcia Dart said: “We are delighted with the way it went. There were lots of families and some fantastic costumes. Nobody got lost and the vast majority of people said they enjoyed it.”
Goodie bags were given out to all children who took part.
