A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) said paramedics are expecting a busy weekend, with fine weather forecast across Sussex.

Air pollution is also expected to be high, meaning people with existing health conditions should avoid strenuous physical activity and those with asthma may find they need to use their reliever inhaler more often.

SECAmb is asking people to be aware and stay safe over the coming days.

Senior contingency and resilience manager Steve Carpenter said: “With the Easter break coming to an end we know that many will be looking to make the most of being out and about at the weekend, thankfully air pollution levels are expected to be lower after tomorrow but we’re advising anyone with existing medical conditions, which could be exacerbated, to avoid strenuous physical activity.

“While temperatures are expected to become cooler over the weekend, we are urging people to take extra care and be sensible.

“This way, and by taking extra care of vulnerable people, everyone can lessen the likelihood of them having to call 999.”
