Saddle up for relay challenge

A charity group is looking for people to take part in a forthcoming fundraising event.

1066 Fundraisers needs teams of four to 20 people for a 20-hour relay challenge, which takes place from 12 noon on Saturday, September 11 to 8am the next day.

This is the third time the event, which will be at William Parker Sports College in Parkstone Road, has been held and local organisers are calling on people of all ages to make it a success.

Team mates will set up camp and then take it in turns to run, walk, cycle, hop, crawl, or wheelchair around the track, making sure there is at least one member of the team on the move at all times.

The rest are then free to enjoy the entertainment in the centre of the track.

Pam Shadbolt, one of the organisers, said: "We are looking for teams of four to 20 people to run, walk or crawl around the track every half-hour or so and engage in a celebratory atmosphere which will include team games such as tug of war and pogo jumping.

"By taking part and raising as much money as possible, together we can help support health-related charities."

Teams are encouraged to raise money before the event by selling cakes, washing cars or by collecting donations or sponsorship.
