S Bersted pupils keep the green flag flying

Staff and pupils at South Bersted CE Primary School are flying the flag for the environment. Their commitment to healthy and sustainable living is visible to everyone at their Church Lane site.

A six-metre high new flagpole is enabling them to fly the green flag they were awarded late last year under the national Eco Schools programme. The award was granted for the school's work in a range of areas.

The main focus was on healthy living through a varied programme of physical activities during and after school and promoting food technology, healthy eating and health education throughout the curriculum. The other environmental areas on which the school was judged were transport '“ for continuing to promote walking and cycling '“ waste, energy and litter.
