Rustington man arrested on suspicion of producing drugs

Officers from Adur and Worthing Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant on Thursday (January 30) at a home in George V Avenue, Lancing, after members of the community passed information to officers about drug production in the area.

More than 40 cannabis plants were found within the property along with hydroponic equipment used to cultivate the drug.

A 61-year-old man and two women, aged 28 and 24, from Lancing, and a 25-year-old man from Rustington were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the production of drugs.

They were questioned before being released on bail until April 25 while officers carry out further inquiries.

Sergeant Steve Turner, from the neighbourhood policing team, said: “This was a successful operation and demonstrates the strength of working closely with our local community and partner agencies like Crimestoppers.

“We were able to build up a picture of what was going on at the address because of the reports we have received from members of the public and the information collected by officers.

“Tackling the supply of illegal substances is a key priority for us and this has made a significant impact in disrupting the drugs trade in Adur and Worthing. We will always follow up on information we receive in relation to those benefiting from the proceeds of drugs.”
