Dick Valentine, best known as the frontman of rock and roll band Electric Six, is performing at the Brass Monkey tonight (May 10).

Electric Six is a six-piece Detroit based band, with hits including the singles Danger! High Voltage and Gay Bar, and has recorded eight full-length albums.

Every so often Valentine leaves his comfort zone and plays as a solo artist using only an acoustic guitar.

This is the first time he has played solo in support of an album.

Destroy The Children is his first solo effort.

Some songs are whimsical, others apocalyptic. Still others are anaemic. Some are weird.

One of them is even performed in Spanish.

Valentine says of the album: “Destroy The Children is the ultimate indulgence of a man who hates music, but loves himself.”

Dick Valentine will be supported by local favourite Adam Lightspeed, a renowned London DJ, and frontman of the band Star Scream.

Tickets for the event are £8 and available online from, or alternatively from The General Havelock or on the door.

The gig runs from 7.30pm.

The Brass Monkey is at 18 Havelock Road, Hastings.
