When our lovely village was flooded in 2000 villagers were most grateful to receive help from a Flood Relief Fund. Not only were there donations from friends and neighbours but from other communities as well. Roger Hill, who as a Church Warden and after consultation with the Vicar and Treasurer of St Mary’s Church has arranged with shops in the village to be collection points for donations to The Somerset Emergency Flood Relief Fund. The Collection process has already begun and we know that times have been tough but please give, even a small amount to this collection as many of us know how awful flooding is, even for a short while, let alone for weeks as has been the case in Somerset.

If you have any items to put in the column please email [email protected]

Ladies Darts : Once again our doubles let us down in our 8-3 defeat at The White Hart(Wadhurst) III last Monday[27th]. Jackie Danaher and Eileen Morgan won their singles games but we had to wait until the last game for our next win with Carol Apps/Jackie/Eileen winning their trebles game. There were high scores for Carol[125,81], Frankie Taylor[114,97,85], Jackie[94,85,83,81] and Eileen[94,84]. We have no game on Monday[10th].

Friday Darts : We played The Millers Arms last Friday and lost darts 5-2 with victories for Dave Goodsell and Michael Stone while there were 100+ scores for Michael[140, 4x100], Dave[121,100], Alice Hodges[120] and Dan Smith[2x100]. All three games of pushpenny were close and we should have won but getting that last penny in cost us as we lost 2-1 with Michael Stone/Ted Goldfinch our only victors. There were ‘goldwatches’ for Dave Fortsch, Michael and Alan Apps. Tonight we play The Kings Head at Mountfield Club 8p.m.

Football : Another deluge and 3’ of water over the Recreation Ground saw another week without a ball being kicked.
