St Mary’s Salehurst: will be starting off this Sunday 19th July with Holy Communion in the Mission Room at 9am and then at Salehurst for Matins at 11am.

There was a good turn out of Teddies and owners at last Sunday’s service. Rev.Robin Tree told the story of the bear he had brought along. There was much hugging of teddies in the aisles. He also told of the challenges the diocese is facing in the Family Support Work. The collection from Sunday was donated to this worthy cause.

Teddy bears picnic: On Sunday 6th September there will be a Teddy Bears Picnic after the service. More details to follow on this.

Robertsbridge Age Concern: is held each week on a Monday at Robertsbridge Hall between 10.30am – 2pm. If you are of retirement age and want to get out and meet people please feel free to go a long to one of the sessions and see what is on offer. This Monday 20th July is the AGM at 1.30pm this is open to all.

STOOLBALL: The Mixed team travelled to Catsfield last Tuesday with an inexperienced side. The hosts batted first and lost Steve[15] to an excellent catch by Graham Clark from Di Kitson’[2-1-40] bowling but a second wicket partnership of 73 was broken when Katie[40] was run out and when Scott[67] was also run out it was left to Shelley [18n.o.] and Mark [19n.o.] to finish the twelve overs on 183-3. This was always going to be a tough ask for our young side and it did not help when skipper Richard Apps was run out on the first ball and then young Charlie Apps [1] was bowled. Penny Clark[7] was caught but a 33 run partnership between JJ Boast[38] and Clare Baker[2] was broken when Clare was bowled and soon after JJ was caught with young Jem Ahsam [0] getting bowled. This left us on 54-6 but Lou Taylor[20n.o.] held up one end while all the others failed to get going with Graham[8], Ian Kitson [8], Richard Ahsam [5] and Di [4] all losing their wickets as we finished on 100. Thursday[9th] saw the Ladies team travel to local rivals Brightling with the hosts batting first Penny Clark[2-2-20] had Kika[3] caught by skipper Mel Mackay but a second wicket partnership of 79 between Mandy[38] and Sarah[42] steadied the innings before Mandy was run out. Sarah was caught and bowled by Di Kitson[1-12] while soon after Lilly[5] was run out with the hosts on 105-4 and just 4 runs later Sarah H[11] was caught by Mel from Penny’ bowling. Mel claimed her third catch of the match when she caught Glenis[3] from Penny’ bowling as Lisa[10n.o.] and Carolyn[6n.o.] ended the hosts 11 overs on 130-6. An opening partnership of 27 was broken when Abigail[6] was bowled but young Jack[20] joined Penny[34] to put on 33 before Penny was caught. Lou Taylor[0] was run out with the score on 62 and 13 runs later Jack was caught but Clare Baker[10] put on 20 with Jackie Kuhler [10n.o.] before Clare was caught which brought in young Alisha Clark[2] who with Jackie took our score past the 100 mark before she was caught and then young Ben Hatter[2n.o.] joined Jackie to see us finish on 105-6 to fall 25 runs short of victory. On Sunday[5th] the Mixed team played at Civil Service’ Tournament in wet and windy conditions. We played the hosts first with Keith Apps[8] and young Charlie Apps [10n.o.] putting on 22 before Keith was caught but JJ Boast[26n.o.] took our 4 over total to 54. We bowled and fielded well but the hosts openers put on 37 before Abigail Fifield[1-19] claimed the first wicket aided by a catch from JJ and with the hosts just needing 3 runs of the last over for victory skipper Richard Apps[2-9] bowled well with a run of the first ball but then good fielding saw 2 run out’s then 2 wickets with JJ claiming another catch but the hosts sealed victory by 6 runs. Abigail[1] was bowled with just 11 runs on the board but an unbeaten 54 by JJ supported by Di[11n.o.] against Brightling saw us win by 9 runs as we reached 73-1 while in reply Brightling lost Pippa[1] run out in the first over to excellent fielding and when JJ[1-13] caught and bowled Sophie[3] they were on 27-2 but Marc[28n.o.] and Ginette[22n.o.] fell 9 runs short of victory. Our final match was against Scorpions with Richard[52n.o.] and Di[7] putting on 49 before Di was caught which bought young Callum Apps[1n.o.] to join Richard as we ended on 67-1. Lee[39] and Angela[14] put on 50 before Lee was run out which bought in Aaron[23n.o.] and he took Scorpions with Angela to a 21 run victory. Richard was in the draw for most wickets but lost out however JJ got the most catches trophy. Sunday[19th] is Brightling Ladies Tournament at Staplecross @ 10.30a.m. while on Tuesday[21st] the Ladies travel to Pett and on Thursday[23rd] the Mixed are at home to Civil Service with both matches starting at 7p.m.

FOOTBALL: Training is every Wednesday at the Recreation Ground from 6.30p.m. The A.G.M. is at Robertsbridge Club on Wednesday 22nd July 2015 @ 8.30p.m.
