St Mary’s Salehurst: have just one service this Sunday 3rd July Trinity 6, at 11am which is Family Eucharist.

The next breakfast: at the Salehurst Halt in support of St Marys is next Saturday 9th July starting at 8.30am. The speaker this time is John Hassall who is the retired Head Teacher of Glynde Gap School. The title of his talk is Disability, a visit from some Heroes. John will be choosing a charity to support with the retiring collection. If you are interested in finding out more please contact Angela on 880307.

RoCoCo: is holding its Summer Concert next Friday 8th July at Robertsbridge hall with the performance starting at 7.30pm, entry is free but there will be a collection to raise funds for two charities. Contact a Family and the Seaview Project.

Contact a Family is a national charity for families with disabled children; they provide information, advice and support, bringing families together so they can support each other. They campaign to improve their circumstances and for their right to be included and equal in society.

The Seaview Project is a local charity working in St Leonards to provide help and inspiration for those living on the fringes of society. They help those in need of housing get a home, including short-term crisis accommodation to prevent rough sleeping. It should be a fantastic evening so please go along and show your support for our local choir and help them to help these 2 important charities.

Robertsbridge Jazz Club: are meeting this month on Thursday 14th July at Robertsbridge Hall starting at 8pm until 10.30pm. Tickets in advance are £8 and available from Judges, or £10 on the door on the night. This month presents the Mike Hext Sextet, featuring Mike Hext on trombone, Andy Wood on trombone, Richard Edwards on trombone, John Horler on piano, George Trebar on bass and Pete Beament on the drums. Robertsbridge United Juniors F.C: are looking for new players for the Under 8`s, 9`s, 10`s and 12`s. All children from Year 1 through to Year 6 primary school and year 7 secondary school. This is to be from September 2016.

Maggie Hodges: and her family organised a charity Disco for Macmillan last Saturday at Robertsbridge Club. They raised a fantastic total of over £1300.00. They would like to thank every person that supported in any way for helping them make this brilliant sum. From the donations, the help, people going along and dancing the evening away. Well-done Maggie here’s wishing you continued good health for the future.

Jimper: Last week was hit with the sad news that Jimper Sutton from Rye had died. For those that don’t think they know him, he was the man who came to nearly every bonfire that Robertsbridge has held and collected with his bucket, he had a parrot on his shoulder which may be of help in identifying him.

Jimper was so well known to all the bonfire societies in Sussex, over the years he must have collected thousands of pounds to go to all good causes in the area. Bonfire season this year wont be the same with out him. We send condolences to his family and friends at their very sad loss.

FOOTBALL: Training starts on Wednesday 6th July 2016 at the Recreation Ground @ 6.30p.m. New players are welcome to join last season’s players for training under the new manager Mark Smith. Good to see you back in the fold Mark. The A.G.M. is on Wednesday 27th July 2016 at Robertsbridge Club @ 8p.m. This is for the Senior section of the Club and not the Juniors however anybody can attend and we would like to see you have your say as to the future of the 120 year old club.

STOOLBALL: Our young side gained some more experience at Staplecross Tournament last Sunday and although we did not win any games we conducted ourselves well against some tough opposition. First match was against Brightling in a 4 over dash our opponents scored 75 and in reply Keith Apps[11] and Penny Clark[14n.o.] put on 17 before Keith was bowled and then skipper Richard Apps[0] was bowled first ball while Ian Kitson[17n.o.] shared a 30 run partnership with Penny to see us finish on 48-2. We batted first against a strong Civil Service side with Keith[25n.o.] and Penny[7] sharing a 14 run partnership before Penny was caught and when young Charlie Apps[0] came in the opponents crowded the pitch to remove her but Lou Taylor[9n.o.] shared a 30 run partnership with Keith as we ended on 48-2. Civil Service won comfortably without losing a wicket for 77. The wooden spoon match was against Pett who fielded a young side like us but an unbeaten 62 between Nathan[48] and Louise[11] earned them victory as Rhys Kuhler[25], Lucy Kuhler[9], Lou[3n.o.] and Richard[1n.o.] took us to 47-2. Our last match was against the hosts Staplecross and batting first we lost Ian[4] and Penny[4] early on but Keith[18n.o.] steadied the innings as Lucy[1], Charlie[5] and Lou[3n.o.] saw us reach 41-4 while the hosts reached their target without losing a wicket on 61. Sunday[3rd] is Icklesham Ladies Tournament at 10.30a.m. while on Tuesday[5th] the Mixed are away at Pett and on Thursday[7th] the Ladies are away at Brightling with both games starting at 7p.m.
