Newhaven Coastguard Rescue team this morning (Thursday, July 13) were paged to a cyclist that had crashed onto the beach from the undercliff promenade at Saltdean.

The team located the casualty and provided medical care with the helicopter winchman paramedic who landed on the beach.

Shoreham Coastguard, Rescue Helicopter 175 and Newhaven Lifeboat were called to the scene to provide assistance.

According to Newhaven Coastguard the cyclist was stabilised and packaged so that they could be extracted from the beach and taken to hospital.
