The station, in Terminus Road, has been shortlisted as one of the best train care depots in the south.

The nomination is part of railway operator Southern’s Stars and Tsars. It will be fighting against Selhurst station for the title.

Barnham railway station has also received a nomination for the best large station, alongside Bognor Regis’ and Sutton’s stations.

Southern’s stakeholder advisory board helps sponsor the awards and the judging panel includes passengers, Southern managers and a winner from the previous year’s awards. Winners are announced on Tuesday.

Emma Toms, head of customer experience, said “We have continued to see high standards of service quality across our stations and depots and are extremely pleased with the shortlist. We feel these stations and depots really do demonstrate the best of Southern and recognises the hard work and effort of our people.”
