Rev Michael Brydon was upset after a window at St George’s Church, on Forewood Lane, was vandalised some time between 12.30am and 10am.

He bemoaned the unnecessary waste of time and effort involved in fixing the window when they should be serving the village.

“I’m saddened by the waste of time and energy to put it right and I’m sad the window will have to be taken out to be repaired,” he said.

“It’s a waste of time when we spend most of our time serving Crowhurst.

“We had a particularly happy weekend for halloween celebrations and a baptism on Sunday and it’s a pity to have to deal with that on Monday.

“Particularly with the remembrance services being based at the church on Sunday.”

Police were called at 1.20pm today and Mr Brydon said the hole was found during today’s service at 10am.

“We had a happy congregation yesterday and it was all fine last night but we found fragments of glass on the carpet this morning,” he said.

“It seems likely that somebody has thrown a rock against the window a couple of times.

“The metal grill behind it was bashed in.”
