Pregnant woman hospitalised due to fire

A PREGNANT woman was taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a St Leonards flat on Sunday night, March 27.

Firefighters from Bohemia Road Fire Station spent 15 minutes tackling the flames, which broke out in a bedroom on the first floor of the three-story building in Western Road at around 8.45pm.

The woman, who was 21 weeks pregnant, and several other residents managed to escape safely before firefighters arrived.

The flat suffered heavy smoke damage and the fire is believed to have started accidentally.
