The tutor is Jackie White, who has been providing gardening courses for the Rye branch of the WEA for many years, and has a keen following of regulars who are attracted by a teaching style that places an emphasis on having fun, enjoying tea and cake and sharing each others’ experiences and knowledge.

The class is open to new people who would like to join for a 2-hour session every Friday .

“It is suited to everyone from complete beginners to those who are experienced gardeners,” says Jackie. “We look at plant propagation, sewing, growing vegetables and much, much more, including controlling pests and diseases. And a nice cup of tea or coffee and cakes at half-time is always on the menu!”

The course costs £84 for 21 hours’ learning, and concessions may be available. To find out more and/or to reserve your place on the course ring Jackie on 01424 81292. Otherwise, turn up on the day.
