Police held a school road safety poster competition in response to parking problems at Robsack Wood Primary Academy, St Leonards.

Youngsters were encouraged to create posters highlighting hazards caused by poor parking outside their school.

On Monday (June 8) the winning entries were announced during school assembly by Sergeant Dave Townsend, of Hastings neighbourhood police team, schools liaison officer Caroline Masterson and academy principal Caroline Thayre.

The winner was Jenna O’Reilly of Rowan, and runner-up Emma Keene of Hazelnuts. They received gift vouchers funded by the Safer Hastings and Rother Road Safety Group.

Sergeant Townsend said: “Our schools liaison officers PC Caroline Masterson and PC Amanda Snashall joined me in holding the competition at Robsack to highlight road safety.

“The school is currently undergoing major construction works, making parking for parents even more tricky.

“I’d like to thank all the children who took part and I’m pleased that they really embraced the safety message to help make their school a safer place during drop off and pick up times.”
