New parking controls across Hastings proposed

East Sussex County Council’s proposals follow either requests to modify existing controls or where residents or businesses want new measures introduced.

There are also areas where safety or access issues have been identified and it is felt necessary to introduce restrictions such as yellow lines.

The consultation opens today (Friday May 21) and runs until Friday June 11.

The level of support will determine the outcome of the proposals. If there are a number of suggested alternatives, these will be considered for inclusion in the final proposals.

If the proposals go forward then the draft Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) will be written and advertised allowing 21 days for formal consultation. If there are no objections the restrictions will be introduced and the draft TRO will be made permanent. If objections are received, council officers will need to be consider these and present a report to the planning committee.

In particular the council would like to know: which road and drawing number you are commenting on, whether you support or do not support the proposals and your reasons and any other comments you may have.

Proposed changes include:

Beaufort Road: Proposed change on north side between Strood Road and York Road from no waiting Mon-Sat, 8am-6pm to no waiting at any time.

Blackman Avenue: Proposed formalisation of advisory disabled bays.

Brightling Avenue/Middle Road: Proposed no stopping on footway at any time at several points and proposed no waiting at any time at several points.

Burry Road: Proposed formalisation of existing advisory disabled bay.

Castle Hill Road: Proposed no stopping on footway at any time on south side near junction with Albert Road.

Churchill Avenue/Montgomery Road: Proposed no waiting at any time at junction.

Collier Road: At southern end proposed change to existing loading/unloading only from at any time to 8am-6pm Mon-Sun, proposed no waiting at any time at the south-east corner and also proposed removal of loading unloading only at any time.

Coventry Road: Proposed no waiting at any time on northern side outside two properties.

Croft Road: Proposed removal of blue badge holders only bay and its replacement with resident permit holders only 9am-8pm.

Dane Road: Proposed removal of buses only 8am-6pm on northern side near junction with Charles Road.

Downs Road: Proposed no waiting at any time on southern side near junction with Elphinstone Road.

Fellows Road: Proposed formalisation and extension of existing advisory disabled bays by approximately 1.1m.

Hare Way: Proposed no waiting at any time on western side near junction with Little Ridge Avenue and proposed school keep clear on western side opposite school.

Harley Shute Road: Proposed no waiting at any time on eastern side near junction with Field Way.

Holmesdale Gardens: Proposed section of no waiting at any time to replace existing resident permit holders or time limited bay on northern side of bend.

Hughenden Road: Proposed removal of two stretches existing no waiting at any time on south side and formalisation of existing advisory disabled bay.

Linley Drive: Proposed no waiting at any time on stretches of northern side.

Lower Park Road: Proposed two-metre section of no waiting at any time to replace existing resident permit holders or time limited.

Pennine Rise: Proposed no waiting at any time on western side.

Sea Road: Proposed no waiting at any time to replace white hatching markings at on south side and proposed no waiting at any time on the northern side where the footpath leads to the bowls club.

Sedlescombe Road North: Proposed change from no stopping except taxis 8am-6m to time limited Mon-Sat 8am-6pm maximum stay one hour, no return within two hours on eastern side near junction with London Road.

South Street: Proposed no waiting at any time in south-west corner.

St Margarets Road/White Rock Road: Proposed change from pay and display only to permit holders A or pay and display (shared use) 9am-8pm, maximum stay four hours, no return within four hours and proposed change from pay and display only to permit holders B (shared use) 9am-8pm, maximum stay four hours, no return within four hours.

Stainsby Street: Proposed blue badge holders only at any time to replace a section of residents permits only Mon-Fri 11am-1pm on western side and proposed removal of blue badge holders only at any time and its replacement with resident permits only Mon-Fri 11am-1pm on eastern side.
