New date for Hastings bar’s licensing hearing

A new date has been set for a hearing to review the license of a Hastings bar.

On May 18, a Hastings Borough Council licensing panel  is due to consider an application from Sussex Police to cut back operating hours at Crowleys, a bar in Havelock Road.

Police are also calling for the bar’s licence to be suspended and for a say in appointing a new Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS). The bar denies any mismanagement and says the measures proposed are “disproportionate.”

The meeting had initially been due to take place last month, but was postponed at short notice. According to Hastings Borough Council,  the postponement was agreed by all parties in light of a request for further information on reports provided in the Sussex Police application.
