Hastings nightclub wants to open later on Saturday nights

A Hastings nightclub has put forward a bid to extend its weekend opening hours.

In an application to Hastings Borough Council earlier this month, Grand Elektra in Robertson Street is seeking permission to serve alcohol until 4am on Saturday nights.

The club’s current licence allows it to serve alcohol until 3am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with a 2am cut-off on other nights.  The application only seeks to change the Saturday night opening hours in normal circumstances.

If approved, the change would also allow the club to open until 4am on Christmas Eve, New Years Eve and on Sundays preceding bank holiday Mondays.

While the application would see an extension to the normal hours, in the past the club has used temporary events notices to open later on certain nights.

The application also seeks to vary and remove a number of conditions from its existing licence, although it is not immediately clear what these changes would be.

Anyone wanting to comment on the application has until April 5th. To do so write to Hastings Borough Council, head of environmental services, Aquila House, Breeds Place TN34 3UY. It is an offence to make a false statement in connection with a licensing application.
