A spokesman for the council said the collections would begin today (Monday, April 20).

The previous decision, on March 30, was made jointly by Hastings, Rother and Wealden councils to prioritise ‘essential’ waste and recycling collections.

Today’s announcement reversing the decision means collections will take place on normal collection days.

Colin Fitzgerald, lead councillor for Environment and Community Safety, said: “We understand residents have had difficulty with not having their garden waste collected so we have made the decision to return to our normal collection service.

“An extra month will be added to your garden waste subscription to compensate for the recent suspended service.

“Please make sure not to overload any bins, any extra garden waste will not be collected so please save it for your next collection.”

Any missed collections should be reported via My Hastings.
