Council’s Lib Dem group elect new leader

The Lib Dem group at Horsham District Council has elected a new leader.

Frances Haigh, who was deputy leader and served as interim leader will replace David Holmes, who resigned earlier this month to enjoy his retirement.

Mrs Haigh said: “The Lib Dem team is a very talented group with huge expertise and experience of working with the community at all levels, both as local politicians and in their daily work.

“I am honoured that they have chosen me as the leader at this time.”

She is leading the development of the Horsham Blueprint Neighbourhood Forum to help produce a Neighbourhood Plan for the unparished areas of the town.

Malcolm Curnock, who has worked with Mrs Haigh on the production of an alternative strategy to the council’s preferred strategy as it looks to produce a Horsham District Planning Framework, was elected as her deputy.
