police officer attacked at train station

ACTING sergeant Dawn Butler is pictured, left, as she recovers from a brutal assault at Shoreham railway station on Friday night.

Dawn, 25, was punched in the eye, kicked in the face and had her radio smashed when she tried to call for assistance.

She had gone to speak to a woman who had been arguing with a man in nearby Buckingham Road.

Dawn said: "You expect in these cases to be pushed or for the person to run off, but not to be continually kicked and punched."
