A CHILDREN’S playground has been given much-needed support by police.

Hastings Community Policing team has donated £200 towards maintenance costs at the facility in Boyne Road.

Arthur Burgess, chairman of Clive Vale Residents’ Association, was presented with a cheque by PCSO Lisa Lavender last Tuesday, (July 12).

The money came from the Police Property Act Fund, which redistributes the proceeds of crime to local good causes.

PCSO Lavender made the bid for the cash after speaking with the residents’ association. She said: “I’m really pleased we were able to help the children out. Arthur and the residents’ association still need money to complete their refurbishment plans, but this will give them a head start.”

The residents’ association plans to update the play equipment and improve the facilities at the park.
