Priory Meadow shopping centre will be ringing to the joyful sound of the people of Hastings playing whatever music takes their fancy on a magnificent grand piano.
The instrument, provided by Sussex Pianos, will be available from 9.30am to 5.30pm today (Friday), the same time tomorrow (Saturday) and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday (March 1).
Lesley Turnbull, one of the organisers of the event, said: “Many people have pre-booked a time to come and play but that shouldn’t put anyone off. “People should just come along whenever they can and we’ll fit them in as soon as possible.
“There are still plenty of slots available for people dropping in.”
Pianists are welcome to play any style of music they want.
Adults will be given 20 minutes or so to perform, while children can play for as little time as they choose.
The event is a curtain raiser for the prestigious Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, which starts tomorrow.
The organisers at Priory Meadow shopping centre will have a limited number of free tickets to give away for the early stages of the competition.
