She has already raised more than 250 from friends and family but is looking for futher sponsorship and hopes readers will be inspired to help - call her on 01424 892181 if you would like to sponsor her for the event.

Tricia, of Marlpits Lane, who has been playing bagpipes for five years, will be wearing a kilt and sporran for the occasion.

Having abseiled for St Michael's Hospice two years ago she has promised herself this will be her last daunting fundraiser - no parachute jumps to follow.

Tricia commented: "Don't ask me why I'm doing it...I did the abseil two years ago, which was a ridiculous 180ft, and I hated it. At the time I knew I would not do anything the following year because it is not fair to ask people for money the whole time, so thought I would do the firewalk - and this is the year after that. I haven't done the firewalk before - one half of me feels utterly convinced I can do it and the other half is thinking - oh crumbs.

"I don't know what I am expecting - I am just happy to get to the other end and say I have done it."
