Pink Ladies awarded grant

A LOCAL netball team has been awarded over £5000 by the National Lottery.

The Pink Ladies were given 5,775 by the Awards For All Lottery Grants Scheme, which funds small, community based projects in the UK.

The Pink Ladies netball team was established in 2004 by a group of local mothers looking to socialise and get fit. It is supported by Friends of Sure Start and Sports Relief.

Matches are played at the Helenswood Leisure Centre opposite the Conquest Hospital.

The chair of the team said: "We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant by Awards For All funded by The National Lottery to enable us to continue our current setup and allow us to expand our capabilities.

"We are currently planning future events, and hope we will be able to make some announcements in the not to distant future."
