A PAEDOPHILE has been sent to prison for possessing indecent images of children.
Stephen Cobby, 34, of Rotherfield Avenue, appeared at Hove Crown Court on Friday (April 5) and jailed for four years, having previously pleaded guilty to 16 offences of taking indecent images, three of making indecent images, and one of distributing them, between 2007 and 2011.
All the offences related to a teenage girl. Six of the offences of taking indecent images, and all three of the offences of making indecent images, also involved the presence of a teenage boy.
Cobby was also served with an indefinite 10-year Sexual Offence Prevention Order (SOPO) severely restricting his access to children and computers, and will be required to register as a sex offender for life on his release from prison. The court also issued a forfeiture order for the destruction of the images and the equipment seized.
Detective Constable Rebecca Dixon said: “This has been a long complex investigation and in the end Cobby faced justice. He was an amateur photographer who pursued this young girl to model for his own sexual gratification and circulation to others. We advise all families with young girls who are considering a modelling career to ensure that they check photographers’ credentials, and to never attend appointments alone, taking a friend with them or notifying an adult.”
