Person rescued from St Leonards fire

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said firefighters from Hastings and Bexhill were called to the scene in Salisbury Road just after 1.25pm.

A spokesman said: “One person was rescued by crews and handed over in to the care of paramedics.

“Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire in the bedroom of the property.

“A fire investigation is due to take place later on today. Crews are still on scene, dampening down and carrying out salvage.”
