Several fire engines were spotted in Cambridge Road as crews attended the scene at around 8.50am.

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said a member of the public spotted smoke coming from the flue of a building and thought it was a fire.

ESFRS added the incident was a ‘false alarm’ and that crews were stood down.
