The group produced ‘This Time Next Year’ during lockdown and will be making it available in February to coincide with a European tour.

However, fans can get a sneak preview of how it will sound as one of the new tracks, Self-Saboteur, will be released on Friday (October 16th).

Ben Beetham, co-vocalist and guitarist, said the album, which can be pre-ordered from the band’s website, had been a real DIY effort.

“Obviously we had two choices with the pandemic: wait it out or find a way to do it ourselves,” he said. “It was all mastered here in Hastings at 360 Mastering.”

Kapichi – dubbed “a force” by BBC Radio 1 – is fronted by Beetham and Jack Wilson (joint lead guitar/vocals) with George Macdonald on drums and Eddie Lewis on bass.

The four-piece was formed six years ago and has forged a reputation for energetic stage shows and hard-hitting political and social commentary.

According to Wilson the new album’s title has two meanings. The first is how people can find it difficult to see what they’ve achieved as they’re always looking to the future.

“It’s also relevant to what’s going on right now,” he said. “Everyone’s lives are on pause. We’re all waiting and hoping for this time next year.”

Kapichi, whose single ‘Glitterati’, was hailed ‘hottest record in the world’ by Jack Saunders on the BBC Radio 1, have played at the Reading and Leeds festivals.

They have also shared the stage with the likes of Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Fidlar, and Slaves, and were nominated for Best Rock Video Newcomer at the UK Music Video Awards.

Coronavirus permitting, the group should be hitting the road again early next year for The Big Sexy headline tour with dates scheduled in France, Germany and the UK.
