Kayaker rescued from sea off Hastings

A kayaker was taken to hospital after getting into difficulties in the sea off Hastings yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, May 27).

Just before 1.10pm, HM Coastguard received a report of a kayaker needing medical assistance just off Hastings Pier.

A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: “The HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lydd was sent to the scene and the casualty was taken to hospital.

“A second kayaker self-rescued to shore.

“Hastings Coastguard Rescue Team and Hastings RNLI lifeboat also assisted yesterday afternoon.”
