Hollywood star Connie Nielsen spotted on St Leonards seafront

The Wonder Woman 1984 star was in town on Thursday (September 17) for the filming of a new Channel 4 drama, called Close To Me.

The film crew first arrived in St Leonards on Tuesday (September 15), where they were spotted filming in Grand Parade, with a number of trucks parked up in the car park near the Azur, on the seafront.

Hastings Borough Council confirmed they were filming for the new Channel 4 drama.

Starring alongside Nielsen in the psychological drama is former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston.

The crew is planning to use various locations around Hastings, according to the council, and was planning to film in St Leonards until Thursday (September 17), with plans to film in Hastings over the weekend.

On Thursday, St Leonards Ross Settles managed to get a picture of Nielsen as filming continued on the seafront.

Kevin Boorman, marketing and major projects manager at Hastings Borough Council said: “Filming generates a considerable amount of income for the council, both from the facility fee we charge, and for the use of our amenities such as parking, which we are also paid for.

“Many residents, and some visitors, also like ‘location spotting’ when the town features in a major drama such as this.”

Written by Angela Pell, the drama tells the story of a woman who is living a seemingly perfect life before she suffers a fall which erases a year from her memory.

As she pieces things together, she begins to realise how life was far from perfect and that someone was trying to keep a terrible secret from her.
