Hastings voluntary lifeguards recognised for their dedication and service

The long service and dedicated work of members of Hastings Voluntary Lifeguards has been recognised with a special awards presentation.

A number of volunteers received ‘honours’ awarded from the Royal Life Saving Society UK and the Clubs’ annual award presentation.

Among those awarded were two volunteer members who have clocked up an incredible 75 years between them.

They are Dave Worsley - RLSS UK Honorary UK Life Member (35 years) and Dean Baker - RLSS UK Honorary UK Life Member (35 years).

Dave Worsley also received a club award to mark his retirement after over 40 years of service to the club.

Dean Baker received the Clubs’ President award for his contribution to the club but also the 72 hour swim last August.

The Honours were presented by Doug Simmonds, Chair Sussex RLSS UK.

The club meets on Friday evenings at Summerfields Leisure Centre, Hastings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The club provides training for all of the Royal Life Saving Society UK awards from Rookie (aged about eight years) upwards.
