Hastings protestors march to show solidarity with George Floyd

A group of around 40 people took part in a march on Sunday to protest over the death of George Floyd in the USA,

Floyd, who was black, died after being restrained by a police officer in Minneapolis. A white officer, Derek Chauvin has been charged with his murder.

Around 40 people, including families, took part in the quiet march along Hastings seafront, from St Leonards, at around 1pm. Some carried placards with ‘Black Lives Matter’ and other messages,

It was held at the same time as protests took place in London and Manchester.

The protestors gathered at the fountain, on Hastings seafront and many went down on one knee, an action started by American football star Colin Kaepernick to protest against police brutality.

Many motorists honked their horns in support as they drove past.
