Hastings coastguard and lifeboat crews called to incident at Pett Level

Emergency crews were called to an incident at Pett Level.

A spokesman for the Hastings Coastguard said crews were called to a report of a person potentially cut off by the tide under the cliffs at Pett Level.

They were called alongside the RNLI Hastings Lifeboat Station and the Rye Bay Coastguard Rescue Team.

Upon arrival on scene, the coastguard said it was determined that the person was not in any difficulty having walked back along the beach.

A coastguard spokesman added: "With nothing else untoward and putting this down as a false alarm with good intent, we were stood down and returned to station.

"Please remember In a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
