Firefighters walk miles for Hastings mum with months to live

Firefighters from London and West Sussex walked from Shoreham Fire Station to Brighton Palace Pier to raise money to help a Hastings woman, with months live, complete her bucket list.

Debby Sadler, 60, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on July 31. The charity walk, last Saturday, was organised by her son Dave Mayfield, himself a London firefighter. Afterwards, he said: “A massive thank you to everybody involved, they made it possible. It shows the bond we have in the fire service that my colleagues are so keen to help me and my family in a time of need. Mum has been so brave and strong throughout. It’s been unbelievably hard mentally and physically but she’s come through it with a smile on her face and a sense of humour.”
