The favourite footballer of a Sussex girl killed in a crash has given £2,000 to a fundraiser set up in her memory.

Finlay Craen, 20, said England and Aston Villa player Jack Grealish made the donation as he shared the GoFundMe appeal to his 1.4m Instagram followers.

Finlay’s sister Mia Craen, 18, died in a collision with a tree on Saturday, police said.

Sharing the fundraiser in memory of the Horsham resident, Jack Grealish said: “RIP Mia. Sending my deepest condolences to your family and friends. Donate if possible. So sad.”

Finlay added: “She was an Aston Villa fan and her favourite player was Jack Grealish.

“It’s amazing that it reached him. [Mia] would have been so impressed. It’s her favourite footballer.”

Donations have flooded in since the fundraiser was launched on Tuesday, February 2.

More than 1,000 people have given money and the fund has now topped £16,000.

Finlay said: “It’s just incredible the total just keeps going up. It just doesn’t stop at all.

“We have had so many flowers and cards through the door.”
