Dr Joolz Durkin died on July 12, at the age of 56.

The St Richard's Catholic College teacher, who was working up until her death, leaves behind two sons and a husband.

On Monday (July 27), staff, pupils, friends and former pupils, led by the school principal Doreen Cronin, lined the pavements outside St Richard's to pay their respects.

Dressed in purple, the crowd took part in a gentle applause as the cortege passed by on its way to Eastbourne crematorium, where a small family ceremony was held.
