Covid-19 cases falling in East Sussex: the latest figures for each area

The numbers of reported cases in each area of East Sussex are continuing to fall, according to the latest government figures.

In the latest Public Health England figures, released on Friday evening (February 12), the county’s infection rate for the last seven days was 119.7 per 100,000 people.

In the seven days to Friday, the county reported a total of 667 new cases.

The county’s infection rate for the past week is lower than the rate for the whole of the South East (151.1 per 100,000 people).

England’s infection rate for the last week stands at 188.3 cases per 100,000 people, according to Public Health England.

Rother has reported both the fewest number of cases this week (65) and also has the lowest infection rate (67.7 per 100,000 people) in East Sussex.

Hastings (159.7 per 100,000 people) and Eastbourne (145.5 per 100,000 people) have the highest infection rates in East Sussex, but are also reporting a drop in cases.

East Sussex County Council reminded people to ‘keep it moving in the right direction’ adding: “Cases here are still extremely high and we must do our part to protect ourselves and the people around us.”

The latest Covid-19 case numbers and rate of infection in the most recent seven-day period for each area of East Sussex:

Eastbourne: 151 cases reported (Infection rate is now 145.5 cases per 100,000 people)

Hastings: 148 cases reported (Infection rate is now 159.7 cases per 100,000 people)

Lewes: 124 cases reported (Infection rate is now 120.1 cases per 100,000 people)

Rother: 65 cases reported (Infection rate is now 67.7 cases per 100,000 people)

Wealden: 179 cases reported (Infection rate is now 110.9 cases per 100,000 people)
