The 2.6 Challenge has been organised by the people behind the London Marathon, which was to have taken place this Sunday, April 26.

The London Marathon claims to be the world’s biggest one-day fund-raising event and it raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.

The 2.6 Challenge aims to support charities that have lost thousands of pounds due to fund-raising events being cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

All you need to do to take part in the lockdown friendly challenge on Sunday is dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills.

This could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, or gardening for 26 minutes.

Katie Jones, Fund-raising Manager at The Sara Lee Trust, said: “This event will help to provide telephone counselling and online group activities and therapies to many local people who are affected by life-threatening illness and currently isolated at home.

“You can take part at your own pace and in your own house or garden, so the challenge is open to everyone.

“All we ask is that you donate £26 to our challenge page, or set up your own page and have your own target to raise. Could you raise £260?”

The Sara Lee Trust provides specialist counselling, complementary therapies and therapeutic group activities to people affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

At this difficult time, The Trust is continuing to support local people by offering telephone and video counselling, as well as online yoga and mindfulness sessions.
