Claudia’s family thanks all those who turned out to show respects

Claudia, a former student at William Parker Sixth Form, was involved in a two-car collision on the A21 at Mountfield, Robertsbridge, on Saturday, April 25.

She was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where she died from the injuries she sustained.

On Wednesday (May 20) residents lined the streets of Hastings to pay respects to Claudia as her funeral procession made its way through the town.

Due to social distancing measures, her funeral was closed to her family members.

As a result, the funeral procession took a route through Hastings, along Bohemia Road, and paused briefly in Lower Park Road to enable family, friends, colleagues and anyone who could not attend the funeral to pay their respects.

Crowds of people in bright clothing – at the request of Claudia’s family – stood and applauded as the procession made its way through Hastings, before heading to Hastings Crematorium.

Afterwards, Claudia’s family said: “Claudia’s family wish to thank everybody who came out and showed their support, respect and love for our daughter. We were moved beyond words and it was just beautiful to see everybody there applauding with their flowers and balloons. It means the world to us all, to know how many lives Claudia has touched.

“We wish to sincerely thank every single person who was there. Claudia would have been revelling and basking in all the attention, with a huge smile upon her face, it was such a comforting and truly beautiful gesture.”

Her family described her as a ‘beautiful and bright individual who gave so much more to others’.

She was a team leader at the Co-op and a former pupil at William Parker Sixth Form where she studied art.

Her family added: “We have so many treasured memories of our lives together, we were simply all best friends, and we cannot imagine our lives without her.”
