Peasmarsh

As you have probably seen in the Peasmarsh Periodical, the movies are coming to Peasmarsh! On Friday February 21 there will be a showing of West Side Story at the hall; 7.30pm, adults £5.00, children £2.50 (the film is rated PG).

The first Mother and Toddler group last Thursday morning proved very popular with about 16 mothers bringing their toddlers to enjoy a fun morning at the hall. The group runs from 9.30 - 11.30am on Thursdays, only £2 per family, all carers and their children will be made very welcome.

Lunch club meal next Monday is roast beef and Yorkshire pudding - please call 230324 to make a booking. There will be no lunch on Monday 17 February as it is half term.

Residents are showing interest in 3 possible new activities at the hall. If you would like to join a table tennis group, drop in for Bingo, or want to join a fitness class for an older age group (over 50s, over 60s, over 70s?) the hall committee need to know who you are. If you don’t know a member of the committee, just drop a note into the letterbox at the hall, saying which of these you would like to join and giving your name and contact details.

Don’t forget that you can now drop off your contributions for the Jumble sale on Friday February 28 between 6-7pm, or on the morning of the Jumble sale (March 1) between 9-10am; the sale opens at 10.30am and runs until 1pm.

The Candlemas service at the church on Sunday was well attended and everyone enjoyed the Barleycorns Junior Choir with their singing and handbells. It would be good to have some more Peasmarsh children in this parish group of primary school age young people who now meet on a Friday at 4.30 to practise.The next Family Service will be a Mothering Sunday service at Beckley Church on March 30 when there are plans afoot to have some activities for pre-school age children as well.

Can anyone solve the mystery of the badger? Why should anyone drive a dead badger up to the churchyard in their car and leave it there? This is what happened on Sunday afternoon (February 2). Dead animals at the roadside will be collected by Rother District Council, but because this animal has been dumped on church land the Parochial Church Council will now have to pay to have it removed.

But the big question is why?

Work on Kitchenour Lane is expected to take place this week, and the completion of the drainage work at the east end of the village shortly afterwards.

Both the 8am and 10am services will be at Beckley church this Sunday; there will be no service at Peasmarsh.
