Paperboy protection

PAPERBOYS in Littlehampton will now be safe and be seen, thanks to a local security firm.

Guardian Security donated six high visibility tabards to paperboys at its old next door neighbour's, Webster's newsagents in Norfolk Road, to protect them during dark winter mornings.

"I would like to say thanks a million to Guardian Security," enthused Webster's delighted owner Ken Hubert.

"We are very pleased because you can now see them from about two to three hundred yards away. They really show up well."

A Guardian Security employee on patrol early one morning in Littlehampton hit upon the idea when he made out the figure of a paperboy in the street.

The boy was barely visible and the employee was worried other people wouldn't be able to see him.

Human resources manager Russ Aiton explained: "He came to me and asked if we could provide the paperboys with high visibility clothing, and I thought that was such a brilliant idea."

Guardian Security moved to Ferring from Norfolk Road two years ago, and Russ said the company was keen to carry on the scheme at its new base.
