THE Mayor joined forces with Paddington Bear to raise funds at a picnic in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
Councillor Kim Forward enjoyed the best Seville orange marmalade on offer on Tuesday, along with children, parents and staff of the hospice who turned out for the teddy bear-themed event.
Disaster was narrowly avoided after rain threatened to pour onto crowds enjoying a storytelling session, but Paddington led the charge inside where the picnic continued.
Youngsters from Gizmo DIY theatre company and the Nicola Rodmell School of Dance and Summerfield Gymnastics put on a show of dance and theatre to entertain the crowds.
Darran Penfold, spokesman for the hospice, thanked several local businesses.
He added: “The hospice was overwhelmed by the generosity and support from local organisations, and is grateful for the support of everyone who braved the weather to attend.”
