Outstanding effort from young Felpham ballet dancer

Felpham nine-year-old Maria Howell relished the chance to dance with English Youth Ballet in their production of Giselle at The Kings Theatre, Southsea.

Maria successfully auditioned and joined the principal cast '“ the culmination of a huge amount of hard work.

Maria started rehearsals during the summer holidays and began her

six hours of ballet a day, some weekdays and every weekend.

Proud mum Jools Ellis said: "Maria was given the part of a parlourmaid and enjoyed the discipline, ballet training, dancing with other girls and boys from various other dancing schools and, of course, most of all the outstanding performance of Giselle dancing alongside the principals

of the English Youth Ballet.

"She was presented with a EYB certificate of outstanding performance."

Maria dances at the Art of Dance and Fitness during termtime and goes to Aldingbourne Primary School.
