IT’S that time of year again. The Christmas tree goes up on the roof of Ore public conveniences between the Co-op and Theatre Corner it’s decorations and lights, and the rousing sound of the Salvation Army band mark the festive season.

Come and join our Candlelit Carols event.

Switching on of the lights on Ore Christmas Tree and Candlelit Carols on Sunday, December 9 4pm to 5.30pm. Starting at Theatre Corner – adjacent to the Co-op, and moving on to sing rousing Carols by Candlelight with the Salvation Army Band at the Ore Community Centre.

If clement we will sing in the community garden, if inclement in the Ore Community Centre hall. We are hoping to greet both residents and non-residents of Ore at this inaugural event.

Ore in Bloom would like to extend grateful thanks to Majors Graham and Angie Bailey and the musicians of the Salvation Army Band, the chairman and members of Ore Women’s Institute, Mags Pawson and the Ore Community Centre. Also Jon Baker of Little Down Farm, Main Road, Westfield. 01424 753413. www.littledownfarmchristmastrees.co.uk has all but sponsored our community Christmas tree this year.

We are fortunate to benefit from his generosity and a tree supplied by Jon who is a Member of The British Christmas Tree Growers Association and National Christmas Tree Grower of the Year 2009.

Jon says: “Don’t compromise, go straight to the grower!”
