They should fix the pavements in Hastings before making new cycle lanes

We have managed without Alexandra Park cycle lanes until now and it would be preferable to spend time and money on the deplorable state of pavements and roads which would benefit both cyclists and walkers.

The potholes that exist on pavements present a danger to both cyclists and walkers. I refer specifically to the appalling state of the pavement in St Helens Road, outside of the three blocks of flats Kenrith Court, Alexandra Mansions and Helenshurst Court.

These are inhabited mainly by elderly people using the Dordrecht Way bus stop. Here, the pavement surface is at it’s worst and has been for years. After the pandemic and the winter months are upon us there will be fewer cyclists using the park.
