Pupils enjoy author’s entertaining visit

The children of Arunside Primary School enjoyed an entertaining visit from author Joanna Simmons.

Her most recent publication, Super Loud Sam, had been read to the children in anticipation of her visit. The children were excited to learn how Jo came up with her ideas about Sam, how she made the story flow and what made writing fun for her.

They asked lots of questions about Sam as being the best (and loudest) superhero was very appealing.Her visit was inspirational as many children were keen to take her clear, simplistic route into writing superhero stories themselves.

Mrs Slight, head teacher, said: “Jo had the children in the palm of her hand with motivating ideas, snippets of stories and creating a wonderful platform for writing. Her characterisation was very inspiring for us all.”
